Celebrating 19 Years of Electric Storm Youth
19 Years of Safe Spaces, Wellbeing & Community
For 19 years, Electric Storm Youth has been dedicated to supporting young people across Lancing, Sompting and the wider Adur community.
As we celebrate our 19th birthday, we are taking a moment to reflect on nearly two decades of providing free, safe spaces, trusted relationships and vital youth services that help local young people thrive.
From our weekly sessions to street-based work, everything we do is designed to offer accessible guidance, creative expression and well-being support to the young people who need it most.
Here is a look at what 19 years of Electric Storm Youth provision looks like across our community:
1. Safe Spaces & Youth Clubs
At the core of ESY are our regular youth clubs and after-school sessions. They are free, safe spaces where young people can gather, engage with friends, and build trusted relationships with our team in a warm and welcoming environment. We also offer engaging creative sessions where young people can explore new arts, express themselves and build new skills together.
2. Mentoring & Wellbeing Support
Growing up comes with real pressures surrounding stress, anxiety and loneliness. Our staff provide ongoing mentoring and wellbeing support, offering trusted guidance to help young people build confidence, emotional resilience and positive life habits.
3. Dedicated Support for Young Carers
Working directly within two local secondary schools, we provide confidential, one-to-one support for Young Carers to discuss anything troubling them. We work closely with these young people to build their self-confidence and ensure they know they are not alone. Alongside our school-based work, we also organise meals out and day trips to give them well-deserved respite, new experiences and time to relax.
4. Street-Based & Outreach Work
Youth work extends far beyond our doors. Our outreach and street-based youth work team engages directly with young people in their own spaces across the community, building trust, offering support and connecting them to local provision.
5. Youth Forum & Co-Production
Through our Youth Forum, young people actively shape our charity. They help plan activities, discuss local issues, and gain valuable leadership skills, ensuring our programmes remain responsive, engaging and directly aligned with their needs.
6. School Holiday Provision
School holidays can leave young people at risk of boredom, sedentary routines, or social isolation. Our annual programmes provide a packed schedule of activities designed to keep local young people active, engaged and connected with their peers. By removing barriers, we ensure every young person can take part in memorable days out, try new experiences and build lasting summer memories together.
Looking Ahead to the Future
ESY remains deeply committed to providing safe spaces for engagement and trusted relationships across Lancing, Sompting and Adur.
Thank you to our staff, trustees, volunteers, funders and community partners who make our work possible every day!
